Why "sync Google Calendar with iCloud" is harder than it should be
Google and Apple don't talk to each other directly. iCloud can subscribe to a Google Calendar's public feed, but that's read-only and one-way — an event created on your iPhone in iCloud never makes it back to Google, and Google's own sync delay on subscribed feeds can run up to 24 hours.
