Why "sync Google Calendar with iCloud" is harder than it should be
Google and Apple don't talk to each other directly. iCloud can subscribe to a Google Calendar's public feed, but that's read-only and one-way — an event created on your iPhone in iCloud never makes it back to Google, and Google's own sync delay on subscribed feeds can run up to 24 hours. Most people discover this the hard way: an event added on one device that never shows up on the other, until it's too late.
Seam connects to both calendars directly through their own real APIs — Google's Calendar API and Apple's CalDAV protocol — so both sides get real, near-immediate two-way updates, not a slow read-only mirror.
What actually carries over
Not just the event title and time. Seam mirrors location, description, guest list, recurrence rules (weekly, monthly, "every second Tuesday"), reminders, and all-day status. Timezones are normalized on the way across, so a 3pm meeting set in Google's Europe/Warsaw calendar shows up as 3pm local time in iCloud too, not shifted by whatever timezone your Apple device happens to be set to.
Recurring events are tracked as a series, not as a pile of individual copies — editing or cancelling a single occurrence in Google (say, moving one Tuesday standup) reflects as that same single-occurrence change in iCloud, not a break in the whole series.
A shared calendar link isn't the same thing.
Most people's first attempt is exporting or subscribing to a calendar link. It looks like it works — until an edit or a cancellation doesn't show up on the other side.

Does this replace subscribing to a shared calendar link?
Yes — a shared or exported calendar link is read-only and one-way. Seam actually keeps both calendars updated in both directions.
Does it handle recurring events correctly?
Yes — recurring events are tracked as a single series. Editing or cancelling one occurrence syncs as that one occurrence, not the whole series.
What about timezones?
Times are normalized on sync, so an event stays at the correct local time regardless of which timezone your Apple device is set to.
Will it duplicate my events?
No. Events that already exist on both sides are linked, not copied twice.
What happens if I stop paying?
Nothing is deleted. Your account drops to the free plan, which syncs one way, a few times a day.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Every change Seam makes is logged and can be reversed — for 90 to 365 days, depending on your plan.
Does Seam read my events?
Only to copy them between the calendars you pick. Never sold, never used for ads or AI training.
